At Diverse Services, supporting the wellbeing of service users goes beyond day to day care. Creating opportunities for people to express themselves, build confidence and connect with others, plays an important role in supporting emotional health and quality of life.
As part of this commitment, Diverse Services hosts regular art and music sessions delivered by experienced creative facilitators. These structured group sessions provide residents with a welcoming space to explore creativity, try new activities and enjoy meaningful social interaction.
Art Sessions with Sans Art
Art workshops are delivered by Sangeeta, a West London based artist and workshop facilitator who runs creative sessions through her organisation, Sans Art.
Sangeeta has an established track record of delivering inclusive and accessible art workshops within community settings. Her sessions focus on encouraging creative expression, mindfulness and confidence building, particularly for adults who may not have previously engaged with art.
Working across a range of mediums including watercolour, acrylic, mixed media and oils, Sangeeta designs sessions that are supportive and process led. The focus is not on technical ability or artistic experience, but on participation, exploration and enjoyment.
These sessions provide service users with a relaxed environment where they can express emotions creatively, experience the calming benefits of art, and take pride in producing something uniquely their own.
Music Sessions with Steve Jason
Music sessions are delivered by Steve Jason, a recording and performing artist whose original music is available on major streaming platforms.
With a background in contemporary pop and R&B, Steve brings his professional creative industry experience into engaging and interactive sessions for residents. Activities often include rhythm exercises, songwriting, listening activities and collaborative music making.
These sessions help service users explore music as a form of self expression and connection, while also encouraging participation, creativity and confidence.
Music has a powerful ability to evoke memories and emotions, making it a particularly valuable activity in wellbeing focused environments.
Creating Opportunities for Connection
Both providers deliver structured group sessions across Diverse Services. Sessions are hosted at a primary site, with neighbouring services invited to attend. This approach helps maximise engagement and encourages connection between service users from different services.
Each facilitator delivers approximately two sessions per week, ensuring that service users have access to one art session and one music session every week.
These regular creative opportunities provide service users with a consistent space to relax, express themselves and build relationships with others.
Supporting Wellbeing Through Creativity
Creative activities such as art and music can play an important role in supporting mental wellbeing. They can help individuals reduce stress, build confidence, explore emotions and connect with others in a supportive environment.
By working with experienced creative facilitators, Diverse Services ensures residents have access to high quality wellbeing activities that promote engagement, creativity and community.
It is also important to note that these creative sessions sit alongside, but are separate from, the art psychotherapy student placements recently introduced within the organisation, which provide a more clinically focused therapeutic intervention.
Together, these initiatives reflect Diverse Services’ commitment to supporting the whole person, recognising the value of creativity, expression and shared experiences in promoting wellbeing.
