Celebrating the Diverse Services Activity Coordinator

Introduction

At Diverse Services, we believe that recovery is about more than simply having a safe place to live, it’s about helping people rediscover joy, confidence, and connection. One of the people who embodies this ethos every single day is our dedicated Activities Coordinator, Natasha Papadopoulou.

With 17 years of experience and an unwavering passion for supporting people with complex needs, Natasha goes above and beyond to make sure every individual we support feels seen, heard, and valued. We are proud to share the incredible work Natasha does and the lasting difference she makes in people’s lives.

Natasha’s Impact and Role

As Activities Coordinator, Natasha oversees a wide range of engaging and meaningful activities across our 18 supported living services in Hillingdon, Ealing, Hammersmith, and Hounslow. Her role is much more than scheduling sessions, she creates opportunities for Service Users to grow in confidence, build new skills, and reconnect with their communities.

Natasha coordinates everything from baking, gardening, and music therapy to wellbeing workshops, movie nights, and community outings. Each activity is designed to enhance physical health, promote emotional wellbeing, and strengthen social connections. She also brings creativity to communication through the Diverse Services quarterly newsletter, which shares updates, celebrates achievements, and gives Service Users a platform to share their own voices and stories.

Diverse Empowerment Project

One of Natasha’s standout achievements has been helping to launch the Diverse Empowerment Project. The project sits alongside the regular activities Natasha manages, but it’s distinct in that it’s fully run by Service Users, for Service Users. These sessions range from skill based groups like cooking or gardening, to recreational activities such as movie nights, and vocational sessions like CV writing.

Movie Nights

As part of the Diverse Empowerment Project, weekly Movie Nights have become a much loved tradition at one of our Ealing services and female Hillingdon units. Held every Sunday, these sessions bring Service Users and staff together to relax, connect, and enjoy some shared entertainment. The group often chooses from a selection of animated films, comedies, or romantic comedies, with the Service User leading the group suggesting two or three options before everyone votes on the final choice. Snacks such as popcorn, crisps, and squash are provided, although some participants enjoy bringing their own treats. Typically attended by four to five Service Users, the sessions don’t end when the credits roll, discussions afterwards encourage reflection, social interaction, and laughter, making Sunday evenings something everyone looks forward to.

Gardening Club

Over in Hammersmith and Fulham, our Gardening Club is thriving as Service Users explore the therapeutic benefits of nature and teamwork. Supported by Natasha and one of our Assistant Psychologists, the group has been busy planting herbs and flowers and even experimenting with growing potatoes in their most recent session. The Service Users have already harvested and dried some of their herbs to make a hot herbal tea, a wonderful way to enjoy the fruits of their labour. Although the group is small, typically involving two to three participants, the sense of pride and accomplishment it creates is huge. The Gardening Club offers a calming, purposeful activity that promotes wellbeing, routine, and connection to the natural world.

Natash’s commitment doesn’t stop there. She take great pride organising the annual BBQs that bring together Service Users, family members, and professionals, and ensures that monthly house meetings and birthday celebrations are meaningful and inclusive. Her person centred approach ensures that every activity reflects Service Users’ needs, interests, and aspirations, creating a real sense of belonging across all our services.
